Everyone wants to be happier, it’s in our genes. Here are 15 things you should give up today to be happier. 🙂
1. Your Need To Always Be Right
Everyone wants to be right, but if it means that you have to knock someone else down and make them feel “less than”, just let it go. You don’t always need to be right.
2. Your Need For Complete Control
By letting go and surrendering some things to other people, your life will start to move more efficiently. Let people help you.
Stop complaining. What has complaining ever done to make a situation better? That’s right, nothing. Instead of complaining about a situation, try to think of ideas that would improve your situation. Complaining will not fix anything.
4. Negative Self-Talk
How many times in the last day have you told yourself “I’m not good enough”, “I’m so stupid”, or “I can’t do it”? If the answer is above 0, you need to start talking to yourself better. Stop limiting yourself and tell yourself that you can! Negative thoughts lead to a negative life.
5. Blaming Others
Along with complaining, blaming others for bad things that happen to you will not fix anything. These people will get their fair share of karma in time, but for now, quit blaming them for what happened and fix it!
6. Criticising Others
When was the last time that you were insulted? Last week at the nail salon? After your last football game? Remember how it felt when people have told you things like “You could have done better” or “You should have done this or that”. You probably hate when you disappoint others. This feeling of sadness that comes with disappointment is what you make others feel when you criticize them. Remember that we are all human and we all make mistakes.
7. Your Need To Impress Others
Remember that the only person you need to impress is yourself. You only have to be good enough for yourself. Here’s a little secret: Most people are so self-critical of themselves when with others that they barely remember, or care for that matter, what you look like, etc.
A wise person never gets too attached to any of life’s pleasures, because they know that any one of these pleasures could be taken away at any time.
Labels only serve one purpose in life: to simplify things. You really can’t simplify yourself or others because we are all so different and unique, so good luck trying to accurately label someone. People who label others do it for one reason; to gain control over the person that they label and to put them in a box, and sometimes the person that labels us the most is in fact ourselves. Stop boxing yourself in with labels and try to figure yourself out on a higher level.
Fears are irrational little thoughts in our head. In order to be happier you need to let go of your fears, they act as weights dragging you down into the deep waters of unhappiness. Let go of your weights and rise to the surface.
11. Resistance To Change
Everyone is afraid of change in one form or another. In order to become a happy person, you have to be able to confidently handle what life throws at you. Learn to roll with the punches and embrace change.
12. Limiting Beliefs
Along with labels, limiting beliefs are one of the most deadly things to happiness that you can imagine. By telling yourself things like “I’ll never be able to do it”, you will in fact, never do it, because you believe you can’t.
Excuses kill actions. If you keep making excuses for yourself and others, you will never have a happy life because you will always, in a sense, live a “lie”.
14. The Past
Continuing to think about things that have happened in the past will do nothing to change what has happened. Live in the present, you have friends here. 🙂
15. Other People’s Expectations
You do not need to live up to someone else’s expectations. Create your own life and leave everyone that wants you to be “perfect to them” in the dust. On your life’s journey, take with you everyone that helps you become a better person and helps you live up to your expectations. 🙂
I Really Hope This Post Has Helped You! 🙂
