It happens to everyone. You are doing well, moving along in your self improvement, then you screw up. You relapse. You perform old habits. You feel worthless and like a failure. Everyone does it. Here are some tips on what to do when you feel like a failure.
1.Focus On Who You Are, Not What You Did
The bad things you did do not make you a bad person. If you keep judging yourself on the bad things you have done, you will never accept yourself as a validated human being. Validate yourself based on what you believe in; your morals and values. Remember that EVERYONE makes mistakes.
2. Stop Beating Yourself Up In Your Head
Those nasty little thoughts in your head? Those thought aren’t yours! Humans are not born with negative thoughts that cycle through our heads. Negative thoughts are implanted into our minds by others. Remember that the next time you start to think badly of yourself.
3. Don’t Be Sorry
You’re sorry that you can’t lose weight. Sorry that you relapsed. Sorry you aren’t good enough, but ask yourself “Good enough for who?” You only need to be good enough to yourself. Stop being sorry for not being perfect. No one is perfect, so stop striving to achieve perfectness and instead try to be good enough for yourself.
4. Confide In Someone
Everyone has that one person that they know that they can trust. You know who I’m talking about. Go to them and confide in them about your feeling sad or not good enough. Hopefully they can help you push through your troubles. If you don’t have anyone to confide in, here is a good site that offers online chat.
5. Know That You Will Make Mistakes In The Future
Become prepared to deal with mistakes and troubles. You will face a lot of them throughout life. You make mistakes, I make mistakes. That does not mean that we are anything less than wonderful. You are not a failure, not even close.
